Thailand
January / February 2005 was spent in SE Asia attending to small pockets of need in the massive area struck by the tsunami of December 26, 2004.

The work of the Royal Thai army as well as military and NGO's from around the world helped limit the post tsunami death toll by removing standing water, innoculations, emergency food and drink as well as providing shelter and emergency infrastructure reconstruction.

While the death toll surpasses anything in modern history for a natural disaster, the feared toll from disease, dehydration and malnutrition has been limited.

Mexico
The medical clinics held in pockets of poverty along the costlines of Mexico continue to bear fruit! Clean water education, along with opening lines of communication between the barrios and the government are leading to real change.
Children who, just years before, were stunted in growth from drinking comprimised water, are now flourishing and growing like weeds. Shy, little boys are becoming strapping - and occasionally obnoxious - adolescents. They are becoming what all children should be, happy and full of strength and hope. And mischief.

Dehydration and malnutrition have declined, though mostly in the tiny pockets where clean water is available.
